When anxiety, intrusive thoughts, or dissociation arise, this exercise helps you reconnect with the present moment using your five senses. Take a deep breath… and follow the steps:

Look around you. Name five visible things: an object, a light, a color, a movement...

Focus on your body or your surroundings. Identify four textures you can feel: your clothes, the floor under your feet, the chair you're sitting on…
Close your eyes for a moment. What can you hear? A voice, a distant sound, or silence?
Breathe gently. Do you notice a scent, like perfume, soap, or fresh air? If you don't notice anything, imagine a comforting smell.
Maybe the taste of coffee, mint, or just your saliva. If you don't taste anything, imagine a pleasant flavor.
