I. What Is Depression?

Depression is a psychological disorder that deeply affects mood, energy, motivation, and daily functioning.

Unlike a temporary feeling of sadness, depression lasts over time and can make everyday tasks extremely difficult ( like getting out of bed, working, socializing, or even feeling pleasure).

II. How Does It Manifest?

III. There are several forms of depression

You can suffer from a depressive disorder even if your experience doesn’t match the common “stereotypes”:

  • Major depressive episode: intense symptoms lasting at least two weeks.
  • Persistent depression (dysthymia): less severe but long-lasting symptoms.
  • Depression related to a medical condition or substance use.
  • Premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD)
